Regional Development Team for the Greater Nashville Region

The provision of technical assistance to local governments in economic and community development activities has always been a major emphasis for GNRC and a number of other local, state and federal agencies. To strengthen and further define this effort several agencies instituted the Greater Nashville Regional Development Team (RDT). The formation of the team was funded by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Presently the team has developed a mission statement and letters of confirmation have been received from the organizations that are willing to participate. GNRC is the coordinating agency for the RDT and the point of contact for those needing assistance at the local government level.

In FY 2002, through the efforts of the RDT, one county began a countywide leadership program coordinated by TVA. The leadership program has proven very popular and, assisted by the GNRDT, its participants organized and hosted a successful Business Development Week. The RDT will continue to assist this county and encourage other counties to consider starting leadership programs of their own.
