The Smart Mobility Assessment is intended to provide community leadership, information technology directors, transit agencies, planning and public works departments, traffic operations managers, and other stakeholders within the MPO area a framework for how emerging technologies can improve and optimize the planning and operation of the transportation system, how these technologies can be used to help users understand their options and make better travel decisions, and make built environments accessible, safe, and vibrant.
The Assessment will achieve the following objectives:
Document and assess the current use and planned deployment of transportation technology,
Benchmark Middle Tennessee against a national state of the practice among peer regions,
Establish a long-range vision for the role of technology in addressing transportation and mobility challenges,
Identify opportunities to accelerate investment and deployment of priority projects to implement the vision, and
Establish new lines of collaboration between public and private-sector partners to plan for and implement solutions.
