Area Plan on Aging and Disability

GNRC is recognized by the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) and the TN Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD) as an Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD). In this role, the organization convenes local elected officials and other community leaders to develop an Area Plan on Aging and Disability that prioritizes federal funds made available to address the needs of older adults and to coordinate the implementation of a range of services to support aging Middle Tennesseans and their caregivers in GNRC's planning area.

The planning area includes the counties of Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson.

What is the Area Plan?

The Older Americans Act requires the creation of an “Area Plan on Aging and Disability” for the region every four years. GNRC is responsible for creating the Area Plan to reflect the statewide goals set forth by the TCAD and is primarily related to programs and services funded by that agency. GNRC's approved Area Plan addresses how the organization will deploy TCAD-funded resources, and as such, is restricted to activities allowed by those funding sources.

Through this tool GNRC plans, funds, and oversees services to older adults and persons with disabilities through a combination of direct services and partnerships with community service providers.
