I-65 in Nashville to close for bridge repair this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Bridge repairs will prompt a closure of I-65 in Nashville this weekend.

The project at I-65 at Wedgewood Avenue will close the interchange between I-440 and I-40 (downtown loop) in both directions beginning at 8 p.m. tonight through 5 a.m. Monday. This is so repairs can be made to the bridge overpass and modifications to the off-ramps, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The I-65 off-ramps to Wedgewood Avenue will be closed to traffic this weekend, while the I-65 on-ramps from Wedgewood Avenue will remain open. Northbound traffic will be routed on I-440 to I-40/I-24, and southbound traffic will be routed on I-40/I-24.

A portion of I-65 and Wedgewood Avenue will be closed to traffic for three weekends, according to TDOT.

The $2.4 million project is needed due to continued growth in the area and increased traffic volumes, says TDOT. The overpass bridge is also showing signs of deterioration.

Inclement weather canceled last weekend's construction.

The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2021.
